Trustpower's TV ad featuring Blue, the three-legged dog, was officially New Zealand's best loved ad of 2022 (TRA/ThinkTV, the Nation's Favourite Ad research). But what does a three-legged dog have to do with electricity and telco? And it might have made half of New Zealand cry but what results did it produce for the business? Carolyn will share how, as Trustpower's Head of Brand, she consistently applied data-based principles of marketing and advertising effectiveness in Trustpower's approach, resulting in a transformation of the brand and businesses results that outperformed competitors over many years. She will also share how using neuroscience based research methods allows you to look into people's brains and understand how people are responding to your advertising at a subconscious level, and why their subconscious responses are so important.  

About Carolyn Schofield:

Carolyn is a brand and creative strategist with over 20 years' brand and marketing experience. In that time she has worked agency and client side for brands including American Express, Emirates and AIG. As Head of Brand at Trustpower she was responsible for repositioning and transforming the Trustpower brand and was behind some of New Zealand's best loved and effective advertising of recent years. She also led a successful rebrand of the electricity generation side of the business to Manawa Energy. She is passionate about applying marketing effectiveness principles and is now the owner of two businesses, the brand, marketing and creative strategy consultancy, BrandScience and the specialist food industry agency, Food Marketing Limited.
