MORAL LAXA PRESENTS: MARTINOU (Live), SUZU (Live) & ANGUS MILLS
Description
We are back from a short hiatus and for our next edition we’re beyond excited to present Martinou Live for his Australian debut appearance and a rare chance to experience his music in person. Sharing the stage and presenting her new live and first album is local legend Suzu, alongside wizard Angus Mills with support from Moral Laxa resident, Natalie Lawrence.
For the first time in Australia, Swedish producer, Martinou, brings his deeply emotive and hypnotic sound to the dancefloor.
Moving between the deeper shades of house and techno, his music unfolds through lush textures, billowing pads and flowing rhythms, balancing moments of intensity with blissful introspection. Drawing inspiration from the interplay of light and darkness in the Scandinavian landscape, his productions occupy a distinctive space between the euphoric and the introspective.
With acclaimed releases on Nous’klaer, Mule Musiq and Turbo Recordings, and appearances at Draaimolen and Bassiani, Martinou has established himself as a singular voice in contemporary electronic music.
His genuine joy in playing music is unmistakable, flowing naturally from the artist to the dancefloor. His live performances extend beyond the sum of their parts, with ethereal pads drifting above and beneath the grooves, creating an immersive atmosphere that feels both expansive and intimate.
Making her debut live performance, Eora based producer and DJ, suzu (Ellie Locke) brings her distinctive sound into a new dimension. Blending analogue hardware, field recordings, instrumentation and fragmented vocal textures, her music moves between dubby, spacious and abstract soundscapes, finding depth in restraint.
Following her debut release Transmute on Music For Change, suzu is preparing to release her first album Axiology in December, marking the launch of her new label Core.ode records.
Eora based producer and DJ Angus Mills moves fluidly between the dancefloor and more introspective spaces. With releases on Moonshoe and Only Choice, his productions weave intricate sound design, rich atmospheres and subtle club sensibilities into something distinctly his own.
A dedicated digger with an ear for the unexpected, his DJ sets draw connections between disparate eras and obscurities of electronic music, guided by curiosity and a deep sensitivity to the dancefloor.
Our outdoor space for the day, Field and Fin, are a conservation-led food and eco-tourism initiative supporting marine sanctuaries and community projects in Papua New Guinea, with an incredible outdoor space to dance.
Wood-fired pizzas will be available to pre-order or purchase on the day, with all proceeds supporting their conservation work. Additional donations are warmly welcomed via their website or instagram.
As always, this is an all-inclusive event, intended to be experienced from start to finish. We encourage a quiet, attentive atmosphere so the space can be shared and enjoyed by everyone.
