Len Hurley Digital Artist

I was never interested in art until I came across a piece of software.

It started in 1990 when I downloaded the software of a bulletin board - pre internet. I ran the software for a few days, and the result was a postage stamp sized graphic. This was a life changing experience. I was amazed at the graphic.

I was told that I should join an Art Society which I did.

They had an art competition a few months later and I entered it. Much to my surprise I managed to get third place. I entered it a few times and ended up taking out first place.  I continued to win prizes, and it continues until today. The thing that surprised me was getting a ‘highly commended’ in the Contemporary Artist of the Year competition.

I have had a few exhibitions I various galleries in Sydney & Gosford.

The latest thing is my art to be shown on the main electronic billboard in Chatswood shopping complex and in The Imperial shopping centre in Gosford (food court).

About my art:

All my art is fractal based.

The best way of describing my art is a graphical representation of certain mathematical formulas. Some fractals are a pattern that repeats forever. If you zoom in or out, the pattern looks very similar to the whole image.

Just changing one number in a formula can have massive changes to the outcome even down to twenty decimal places and beyond (the butterfly effect).

Fractals are all around in nature. Just look at a tree or the delta of a river. A succulent plant is also a good example.

There is a good video on YouTube called ‘the colours of infinity’. It describes the basics of fractals.

This is an all ages exhibition (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult)

If you're driving, street parking and public parking is available in Baker St car park (enter via Erina St near Gosford hotel and ground floor parking is free)

Please note at this time the basement gallery is accessible only via stairs which is 8 stairs to platform and then 6 more steps to the basement.
At this time we are seeking to apply for a infrastructure grant for the $97k lift from ground floor to basement.
