Moss House Garden Tour - Permaculture Day
Event description
Moss House garden will be open to the public on May 4th, 2025 for International Permaculture Day. There will be four guided garden tours on the day for which you need to book a timeslot.
Moss House is a 14-year-old large suburban food garden located on a steep slope. It was designed with the primary goal to provide the family with food, medicinal and fibre-producing plants. The garden was filmed for the ‘Gardening Australia‘ show in 2016 (featured also in 2021 and 2022 as a backdrop to Costa's exploits!).
The garden contains edible and medicinal herbs, a wide variety of annual vegetables grown using a crop rotation system, around 30 fruit trees planted along water-holding swales together with perennial vegetables, a composting pit/banana circle and native plant habitats. The produce is either eaten fresh or preserved in various ways for storage; pickles, chutneys, dried herbs, tinctures and fermented foods fill the pantry.
