    Event description

Join NRM South for a site visit to two properties at the Moulting Lagoon Ramsar site, highlighting NRM South’s significant wetland restoration efforts.

On Friday, 21 June, we will meet at 11:00 AM at Devil's Corner. At 1:00pm we will arrive at The Grange, and conclude there at 2:30 PM. Maps of meeting points will be provided prior to the event.

Across both sites, we will view restoration works completed during the previous project, ‘Improving the ecological character of Moulting Lagoon and Apsley Marshes Ramsar Sites,’ delivered by NRM South through funding from the Australian Government’s Regional Landcare Partnership.

We will also discuss activities planned for the new ‘Supporting Significant Wetlands’ project, delivered by NRM South through funding from the Australian Government’s Regional Delivery Partnership.

Within the new project, at both Devil’s Corner and The Grange, NRM South will undertake habitat augmentation of temperate coastal saltmarsh by providing substrate for seeds to settle and establish, as well as directly planting saltmarsh species. These works will be complemented by additional weeding, native revegetation to create buffer zones, and fencing to exclude stock from the wetland recovery areas. These activities will facilitate faster recovery and improved health of the wetland.

Travel by 4WD is required, and you will need to transport yourself between the two properties. Please get in touch if you would like to organise carpooling with other attendees.

Make sure to bring lunch, jacket, and closed-in shoes. Light snacks will be provided.

For any questions, contact Grace Isdale on gisdale@nrmsouth.org.au or 0439 088 564.

RSVP by 5pm Tuesday 18 June.

This project is delivered by NRM South through funding from the Australian Government's Regional Delivery Partnership.
