Location: Mt Bogong, VIC (Alpine National Park)
Distance: ~10 km+ return via Eskdale Spur
Duration: ~6-7 hours
Grade: Challenging | For intermediate to advanced hikers
Capacity: 15 people
Join us for a full-day adventure to the summit of Victoria’s highest peak, Mount Bogong. Guided by Zorali Trailblazer Jarred, this hike takes us up the scenic Eskdale Spur Track, through snow gums and alpine meadows, to panoramic views over the Victorian High Country.
This route offers a steady, steep climb, perfect for those looking to take on a more challenging day hike. Expect rewarding views, a strong sense of accomplishment, and good company every step of the way.
Itinerary
Meet: 8:00 AM at Mountain Creek Campsite
Drive: Carpool to Eskdale Spur Trailhead (approx. 35 min, 2WD accessible dirt road)
Hike:
Eskdale Spur to Michell Hut (1–1.5 hr)
Michell Hut to Summit (1–1.5 hr)
Lunch at the summit (or Michell Hut if weather changes)
Return descent to carpark (2–2.5 hr)
Drive back to Mountain Creek
Fitness Level
This hike is best suited to those with:
Moderate - high fitness ability
Experience on 10 km+ hikes
Comfort walking steep gradients for 2-3 hours
Ability to carry a day pack with water, food, and warm layers
