Event description
Mountaingrass is presented by the Australasian Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association (ABOTMA).
Mountaingrass is held yearly in November. The 2025 festival runs from Friday, 14 to Sunday, 16 November and is based at the Bright Community Centre, 1 Railway Avenue, Bright, Victoria. Concerts & workshops are also held in the Bright Senior Citizens Centre and the Bright Old Courthouse Theatre - all three venues are a stone's throw away from each other!
Mountaingrass is a weekend devoted to the playing and performance of Bluegrass and Appalachian Old-Time music. The festival features concerts, workshops, slow & medium paced jam sessions, curated intimate acoustic only concerts, a walk-up blackboard stage and a gospel concert on Sunday morning. There are instrument maker displays and sales, and lots of opportunities to play and share through jamming and picking sessions.
ABOTMA is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion and performance of bluegrass and old-time music in Australasia. The festival is organised by volunteers for members of ABOTMA and all lovers of bluegrass and old-time music.
