Mountaingrass is presented by the Australasian Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association (ABOTMA).
The festival is held annually in November. In 2025 the festival runs from November 14-16 and is based at the Bright Community Centre, 1 Railway Avenue, Bright, Victoria. Concerts & workshops are also held in the Bright Senior Citizens Centre and the Old Courthouse Theatre.
Mountaingrass is a weekend dedicated to the playing and performance of Bluegrass and Appalachian Old-Time music. The festival features concerts, workshops, slow & medium paced jam sessions, curated intimate acoustic only concerts, a walk-up blackboard stage and a gospel concert on Sunday morning. There are instrument maker displays and sales, and lots of opportunities to play and share through jamming and picking sessions.
ABOTMA is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion and performance of bluegrass and old-time music in Australasia. The festival is organised by volunteers for members of ABOTMA and all lovers of bluegrass and old-time music.
Financial members of ABOTMA are eligible for a member discount on their festival season ticket (or individual day tickets). Members need their membership number to purchase discounted tickets.
