Feeding therapy and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OFM) share the same anatomy but ask different clinical questions. Many SLPs are left to figure out the overlap on their own, which can mean second-guessing scope, risk duplicating services, or missing the moment a case needs to be handed to — or shared with — the medical, dental or allied health team.  Mouth Matters is built to close that gap.

This isn't a theory lecture. It's a practical, case-based session designed to leave you with frameworks we use every day in our practices to support clients and their families. 

What you'll walk away with

Frameworks that help you look at the big picture and quickly identify whether a client's presentation points to feeding therapy, OFM, both, or onward referral — so you're working from a decision process, not a guess.

A clear picture of whether direct therapy can commence – what are the red flags for when we should wait!  Considering whether goals are the child or parents, session structure, and progress markers that differ between feeding therapy and OFM (and where they legitimately intersect).

Practical strategies for working with the medical team, including how to communicate findings, when and how to loop in GPs, dentists, ENTs, paediatricians, or other allied health, and how to hold your ground as the SLP in a multidisciplinary case.

Real case studies, worked through step by step, so you can see the frameworks applied to the kind of complex, ambiguous presentations that show up in your own caseload — and practise  problem-solving with like-minded professionals who just like you love to be detectives but know they need the help of a team!
