“World Brand New, the new album from Mouths of Babes, is a ridiculously infectious collection of Americana about navigating turbulent times and forging renewal. An outstanding album that flies the flag for compassion, understanding and change.” — Folk Radio UK
“A seamless blending of Ingrid's Americana-oriented style with Ty's pop-influenced sound, Mouths of Babes might be the most compelling queer duo since the Indigo Girls.” — Bay Area Reporter
Mouths of Babes is an award-winning folk-Americana duo known for smart songwriting, tight vocal harmonies, and a rare, intimate connection with their audience. Their band motto, “All the feelings, all the time” is no joke; at shows, fans snort with laughter, cry into their date’s shoulder, and make confessions at the merch table. Fronted by veteran performers Ty Greenstein and Ingrid Elizabeth, the duo delivers the kind of emotionally rich lyricism and disarming humor that keeps audiences leaning forward in their seats from first note to encore.
Both artists come from acclaimed musical lineages and storied careers. Before forming Mouths of Babes, Ty and Ingrid toured nationally for years with their respective bands, Girlyman and Coyote Grace, sharing the stage with artists like Dar Williams, Melissa Ferrick, and the Indigo Girls and quickly becoming headliners themselves. The two singer-songwriters met on tour, and when both bands split up around the same time, they didn’t hesitate before combining forces. Now they have distilled the best of the songwriting, musicianship, and humor of their previous groups into what the Huffington Post calls “powerful, romantic, and giddy…a musical and personal love fest all at once.”
Onstage, Ingrid and Ty trade lead vocals, instruments, and jokes with ease—Ty on guitars, banjo, and foot percussion; Ingrid on upright bass, ukulele, harmonica, and cajón—seamlessly creating a show that can span a dizzying range of genres: singer-songwriter, blues, soul, folk-rock, country, even musical theater. Beyond the stage, Mouths of Babes is known for cultivating genuine community. From wildly successful fan-funded albums to their pandemic-era online concert series Live From the Baberhood, the duo has built a devoted following rooted in connection and care. As Café Veritas wrote: “This is the kind of music that makes you glad to be alive.”
As Café Veritas’ Michael Mullane put it: “This is the kind of music that makes you glad to be alive.”
