BONDIWOOD 2
It’s with great pleasure that we announce the programme of the second edition of our maelstrom of Bondi movies. After the fun of last year’s event we thought we should give it another go. There’s such a wealth of movie production around the beach that we’ve been overwhelmed with pictures that we hope you’ll like.
To kick off, opening night is a total drag with a 30th Anniversary screening of one of the most loved films in Australia - The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. This will be a gala event with live show, lucky meat tray and director Stephan Elliot joining us live from Portugal.
We’ve tried to provide something for everyone. Our programme includes the premier of FACEDOWN a hard hitting documentary about an IRA hit who’s repercussions echoed to Australia, the launch of the restored actioner CHAIN REACTION starring local actress Arna Maria Winchester, surf movies, restored classics and we’ll be presenting a unique two movie event. A short mockumentary that lead to the birth of a legend and then we play Mad Max. George Miller will be talking afterwards. See how inspiration created a worldwide phenomenon. We’re also running a giant movie trivia competition and a series of not to miss panels featuring some of Australia’s leading creatives.
Last year the bar tuned into a small networking scene as people dropped in for a drink and ex residents called into say hello to old friends. Even if you’re not seeing a movie, or winning the trivia or going to a panel come and say hello at the bar.
There’s too much to note here but you’ll find the full programme here: bondiwood.au
Tickets are on sale now and we’ve got 3 movie, 5 movie and season tickets at good discounts.
This is all happening on the smell of an oily rag and we couldn’t do it without the support of all you guys. It really is a community gig. It’s cool, organic and dead set Bondi – or as the old guard called it – scumvalley. That was before they put the sewage outfall in. You could help us by spreading this info through your social pages, email network or bus shelters.
