Event description

Macedon and Mt Macedon Landcare is hosting a series of five environmental film nights, to be held roughly every two months. This is the third one and the last for 2025 so it will also be our end of year celebration!

We will be showing the following three films:

Turning the Ship - 30 mins

Turning the Ship tells the story of the passion and drive of Rising Tide and the extraordinary 2024 People’s Blockade of the World’s Largest Coal Port.  The highs, the lows and the triumphs!

Coral’s Last Stand - The fight to save Scott Reef  - 30 mins

Perched on the edge of the continental shelf, 300km from the Australian mainland lies Scott Reef, home to more than 1200 species including endangered seas snakes, green turtles and spectacular corals., and  sitting on a huge reservoir of gas known as the Browse Basin. This documentary asks whether Australia can really afford to exploit this gas reserve in a time of growing community concern at rising global temperatures. And if it does will Scott Reef and the life it supports be the collateral damage of that decision?

Warburdar Bununu - Water Shield  26 mins

A young leader is devastated when Borroloola Town Camps are bombarded with water contamination notices. No one seems to be taking responsibility in the Northern Territory and with continued mining up river his family’s way of life is under constant threat. He sets out to find answers knowing that his Elders will never leave their ancestral homelands. On this quest he rediscovers hope in the healing power of story, family and culture.

Come along to a social community evening, there’ll be supper and even wine, and enjoy three thought provoking movies. It's free, and a great way to wrap up the year.
