MQ Incubator Lunch & Learn | Decision making in early stage startups

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join us and Mark Reed, one of our mentors and in charge of Strategic Research Partnerships at Macquarie University, to discuss decision making in early stage startups.

One of the biggest advantages is the amazing ability for a startup to make quick decisions. Founders will be faced with daily decisions where procrastinating is still a decision. Decisions map the path and journey of the startup and are sometimes a choice between bad and worse. Decisions on product focus, decisions to hire/fire, decisions on investors, partners, customers, pivoting the company, closing the company, and more. Not every decision will be correct but not making a decision can be much worse. There is no playbook for this and operating with limited information is the norm.

About Mark
Mark is an experienced researcher, engineer and entrepreneur/founder/startup CEO working in technology companies both in the USA, Europe and Australia for more than 30 years. He has a PhD in communication engineering from the University of South Australia and research experience both at NICTA/ANU and at UNSW Canberra, where he has built a number of world-first products, publishing more than 100 high impact research papers and supervised more than 10 PhD students. He has won a number of industry awards for his work.  He was the founder/CEO of InterfereX Communications that built a number of highly innovative communication products and was acquired by a NYSE listed company in 2018. He is now working at Macquarie University on Partnerships while also mentoring founders to overcome challenges in growing their businesses.
