About the event

JMI Live will be hosting a very special event featuring jazz bands from Mt Gravatt SHS and the JMI Jazz Orchestra.  This is a free event for families and friends to attend to watch the students of Mt Gravatt SHS perform on the same stage as the JMI Jazz Orchestra at JMI’s intimate jazz club on campus.

7:30 JMI Jazz Orchestra

The JMI Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band made of up of students and staff from the Jazz Music Institute. The JMI Jazz Orchestra pays tribute to the incredible music of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Through performing the music of these legends gives the students a strong foundation of understanding the breadth of Big Band music. The JMI Jazz Orchestra performs regularly around Brisbane at various locations and community festivals. In 2021 the JMI Jazz Orchestra toured to regional Queensland. The JMI Jazz Orchestra in 2021 toured to regional Queensland and in 2022 Toured interstate to perform at Big Band Blast.
