Event description

At this Morning Tea with Mark, Dr Lesley Petersen and Dr Patricia Bossons will share their insights on coaching vs mentoring and how they differ through the purposes they serve.

There's no need to choose between coaching and mentoring in an organisation, each one enhances a leaders ability to grow within themselves, however, this is a good opportunity to find out what your leaders could benefit most from in certain situations.

Talking points:

  • Definitions of Coaching and Mentoring
  • When to use a Coach, when to use a Mentor
  • Pitfalls to watch out for when working as a Coach, when working as a Mentor

About Lesley:

Lesley has over 30 years experience working with organisations to help them design and implement mentoring programmes to support employee development, build leadership capability, and create a culture of quality communication and care. Lesley completed her PhD in 2011 which investigated the impact of mentoring on professional practice. Her research culminated in the development of a mentoring model that can be tailored to the needs of the organisation and ensure mentoring is done well and is sustainable into the future.

A significant area of Lesley’s work is being a mentor of new mentors, helping them build their confidence and skills to shift their practice from effective to exceptional.
