Mudgee ABA EARLY DAZE - Thurs 13th March 9:30 am - Mixed Feeding
Event description
ABA EARLY DAZE is is a free catch-up especially for expecting parents, those with newborns and young babies up to around 9 months, and their support people. Come and join us for a cuppa, chat about the topic of the day and get to know other families while the little ones play. Everyone is welcome- you don't need to be breastfeeding to come along.
MIXED FEEDING- Perhaps you've found yourself feeding a mix of direct breastfeeds, EBM bottle or cup feeds, and infant formula bottle or cup feeds, either as a short or a long term plan. Or perhaps you would like to introduce EBM or infant formula and aren't sure how.
You might want information and help about-
* How to maintain your supply alongside supplementary formula or EBM feeds
* How to encourage your baby to be keen for direct breastfeeds as well as supplementary feeds
* How to manage expressing, if that is part of your feeding plan
* How to help your baby to learn to use a bottle or cup (or vice versa if baby is fussy at the breast)
* How to move to full-time direct breastfeeding, if that is your goal, and how to check if that's realistic
* How to manage disappointment, if you had wanted to directly breastfeed for all your little one's feeds and have needed to mixed feed your little one.
You may want to share your own mixed feeding journey to support others figuring their own way through. Please join us!
Meet up with other mums and bubs, and take the opportunity to ask any breastfeeding and baby related questions you may have - an ABA breastfeeding counsellor will be present. All queries are welcome regardless of the topic- positioning and attachment, breast and nipple care, mixed feeding, sleep, naps and night times, starting solids expressing and storing breastmilk, etc.
Morning tea will be provided. If you are having a fabulous morning and would like to bring a packet or plate to share, that is lovely, however if that's not how your morning is going, then just bring yourself and your little ones, there's always plenty to go around.
PlAyBA social and playtime follows at 10:30 am and you're welcome to stay if you would like.
The Mudgee Uniting Community Garden and Uniting Church Hall is a family friendly space. You're welcome to park for our session in the church carpark. If you can't catch anyone's attention at the glass doors (to the left of the actual church building at the back of the carpark), please enter via the garden gate to the left of the tearoom- we keep the glass doors latched to keep toddlers inside, however the gate has a childsafe latch and you will be able to let yourself in!
Bookings are appreciated and help us get in touch with you quickly if there is a last minute change of plan, however you're welcome to turn up on the day if you haven't booked. If you or your little ones aren't well, please stay home and get well this time and we'll see you next week!
