Multicultural policy and funding: is it strengthening silos rather than building bridges?
Description
Multicultural policy and funding has more recently been seen by some to be dividing communities rather than building bridges between all segments of society - 1st, 2nd, 3rd+ generation, and First Australians.
Some people feel that ethno-specific or grassroots funding results in communities being targeted for being treated preferentially. Others are discussing the importance of equity as a determinant of grant funding, whilst others see everyone in Australia as being a part of "Multicultural Australia" and therefore merit should determine funding allocations in cases where ethno-specific funding is not a necessary requirement.
If you’re writing applications, determining grant criteria, managing and/or allocating funding, this webinar is for you. The perspectives of our speakers will assist current and future grant makers to better understand the pros and cons of their ethno-specific, grassroots or mainstream criteria choices.
