Multicultural Multifaith Iftar Dinner
Join us for a fun and engaging Iftar Dinner where everyone in the local Wyndham community is invited to join in regardless of their faith or cultural background.
We'll share a meal, play a game, get to know each other better and maybe even learn something new.
Speakers:
Sheikh Abdulla Hawari – Imam at Virgin Mary Mosque and Melbourne Branch Manager of Al-Noor Quranic Institute.
Cr. Mia Shaw - Mayor of Wyndham City Council is serving her third term as a Wyndham City Councillor, first elected in 2016. She was Mayor for the 2018-2019 term and has deep family roots in Wyndham, with her great-grandfather, William Shaw has served as Shire President three times. She has led initiatives on economic development, employment, and business growth. Passionate about diversity and inclusion, she advocates for social cohesion and multicultural engagement in Wyndham.
Jazeer Nijamudeen – leads the Countering Islamophobia Project for the Board of Imams Victoria and works closely with Action Against Islamophobia which supports and advocates for victims of Islamophobia at a national level. Jazeer is also a senior lawyer and a co-founder of the Muslim Legal Network. Jazeer has received the Meritorious Service Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs from the Victorian Government and actively engages with peak bodies and community leaders across Australia.
What to Expect:
1. An Interactive Game to challenge your awareness of Multicultural Australia and its famous faces.
2. Experience the warmth of Ramadan over a delicious Iftar Dinner.
3. Community Connections – Engage in conversations with leaders and members of all faiths and cultural backgrounds.
