We’re back with another heartfelt edition of Mum Cha — this time featuring Nagi Maehashi, the force behind the globally loved food blog RecipeTin Eats, and the founder of RecipeTin Meals, a not-for-profit food bank that has donated over 300,000 meals to Sydneysiders in need.

Joining Nagi for this special lunch is her Head Chef, Jean-Baptiste “JB” Alexandre — affectionately known as “Australia’s favourite French chef” and her mum, Yumiko, who inspired many of the beloved recipes Nagi grew up with and now shares with millions around the world. JB, a classically trained French chef, will be leading the charge in the kitchen, bringing to life the special dishes of both Nagi and Yumiko. As Head Chef of the entire RecipeTin operation, from the blog to the food bank kitchen, JB brings both skill and heart to every plate.

And yes, Dozer, Nagi’s famously cheeky golden retriever, will be making an appearance too… old-man creaky bones permitting!

This eight-course shared lunch will be a true meeting of hearts and kitchens: four dishes from Nagi and Yumiko, and four from Shaun Christie-David and his mum Shiranie. Expect vibrant flavours, cross-cultural twists, family stories, clever food, and a whole lot of joy.

Mum Cha is a monthly celebration dedicated to the incredible women and mothers who inspire those around them. Created by Shaun and Shiranie, the event brings people together over food to reflect on the role of mothers, family traditions, and the power of home cooking.

Each month, the duo collaborates with a new guest and their mum to create a menu that blends cultures, generations, and stories — celebrating the recipes that have shaped their lives and communities.

Guests are welcomed with a cocktail and treated to unlimited premium red and white wines, plus a live cooking demonstration from Shiranie, showcasing one of her signature dishes. It’s more than a meal — it’s a celebration of family, culture, and connection around the table.
