Event description
Join our ‘Mums & Bubs Nature Bathing Walk’ meandering around the beautifully tranquil Byards Road Wetlands and discovering the wonderful wildlife.
Take a moment to relax and connect with your little one in nature; decompress and meet like-minded mothers to share your stories over afternoon tea and a cuppa.
We’ll be walking around the wetlands on a flat compacted gravel/dirt trail or paved path from the Byards Road Wetlands car park return (approximately 1.5km) taking 1 hour.
To finish we’ll have a picnic style afternoon tea on the grass under the gums and say ‘thanks’ over a cup of tea.
So what is ‘nature bathing’ you ask?
Nature bathing also known in Japan as shinrin-yoku, translates to ‘forest bathing’ or ‘absorbing the forest atmosphere’. It involves slow walking using the five senses (sight, sound, smell, touch and taste) in a mindful way to fully immerse yourself in nature; and is deeply relaxing and rewarding for those that participate.
Connecting with nature brings huge health and well-being benefits and is especially important in early childhood development. It gives people a sense of grounding and creates an important sense of place.
This event aims to connect mums and their babies to nature in a mindful way; whilst providing an important networking opportunity over afternoon tea to share stories, experiences and build community connections.
Please wear suitable clothing/ shoes, bring a water bottle, hat, sunnies and anything else you need to be self sufficient with your baby for 1.5hours.
The trail is suitable for a pram or carrier.
Please note that in the event of bad weather the event will be postponed.
