This exhibition is a love letter to the majestic Murray River, the artist’s muse.

"My passion is to capture the river’s rich diversity and ever-changing scenery. The Riverland’s vibrant hues, rhythmic waters and diverse wildlife provides endless inspiration.

My paintings begin with en plein air sketches in pencil and acrylic, then finish with oil paint in my studio. This combination of spontaneous and contemplative working methods helps me capture the Riverland in all its moods. I seek to create powerful bodies of work that resonate and evoke a sense of place, reflecting both the beauty and the challenges of life along the River." Lyn Anstey 2024

Saltbush Country provides a rare opportunity to experience the works and worldviews of Aboriginal artists working independently across regional South Australia. Their works are the result of a series of community workshops, mentoring and professional development opportunities catering for prominent regional artists and supported by Tarnanthi and Country Arts SA.

In this exhibition, seven diverse artists tell stories of their culture, community and connection to Country. Often personal and occasionally raw, their works reflect the world as seen through their eyes while expressing their culture, language and community – a contemporary articulation of Aboriginal life in regional South Australia.

The Saltbush Country regional tour is presented by Country Arts SA. The exhibition was first developed and presented as a partnership between Country Arts SA, Tarnanthi and the Art Gallery of South Australia, with support from Tarnanthi Principal Partner BHP.
