Event description

Join Batjala man, Bruce Gululai Phillips and taste, smell and touch a variety of locally sourced and personally gathered Traditional First Nations plant foods. We will walk and yarn with Bruce through the Northey Street City Farm bush tukka trail as he shares knowledge of how for thousands of years, First Nations people would gather and prepare these foods. Then we'll head to the kitchen where we'll sample some of our region's native fruits and veggies. Bruce will also put on his chef's hat and show you how to prepare delicious meals with local bush foods.

Learn where the plants grow, what they are used for, how to harvest, and even get insight on how to incorporate them into your garden and everyday life. In preparation for these workshops Bruce spends many hours gathering wild foods all over South-East Queensland for us to enjoy. Bruce Gululai Phillip’s MURRI TUKKA walk, talk & tasting will take you on a cultural learning journey that will ignite all the senses!

This workshop can be attended by teenagers (12 to 18 years) accompanied by mum, dad or an adult guardian who have also paid to attend the workshop.
