Bioregional Institute
The Bioregional Institute will be the home of the regenerative community in your place. It will take communities, industries, business, governing bodies and education beyond sustainability, in co-operative model partnership. It will enable regenerative action through integrated research and practice. These will be networked across the country, creating the physical homes for the Regen Places Network. Each local Bioregional Institute will be co-created through the Story of Place process.
Regen Places Network

SUN Villages
The SUN Villages model is a peer-funded housing initiative designed to address the Australian housing crisis while offering investment security. It aims to create state-of-the-art eco-villages that promote financial stability, ecological sustainability, and social well-being.
More about Storying Place
Over 2025 there will be fortnightly gatherings around the country through Regen Places Network to deeply understand where we live, so we can thrive and not just survive.
Why Storying Place?
- Deepen understanding: It helps people understand how Canberra/Queanbeyan came to be so we can better relate to where we live.
- Cohesive Communities: A commitment to listening from the heart to Country and First People's truth-telling and taking action in solidarity for all communitites on our shared planet.
- Informed Decisions: Understanding Canberra/Queanbeyan's patterns in the ecosystem and underlying social dynamics enable future actions to be in right relationship with the ecology and across communities.
- Sense of Belonging: Creating a shared story while enabling the diversity of cultural stories to flourish will strengthen connection to the land and each other.
- Care for Nature: Building our relationship with the local ecology promotes stewardship and care for Nature. We are nature and when we care for nature she cares for us.
Storying Place is about weaving together the past and present to recognise the potential of Canberra/Queanbeyan to create thriving communities that value all life.
We will do this by answering the following questions together:
What makes Canberra/Queanbeyan uniquely significant?
How does Canberra/Queanbeyan work?
What nourishes Canberra/Queanbeyan?
What does Canberra/Queanbeyan provide for other places to nourish them?
What is Canberra/Queanbeyan capable of becoming?
By understanding the essence of place, we will co-create a Bioregional Institute that will continue to bring diverse people to collaborate to care for the Canberra/Queanbeyan region.
