Murwillumbah Training Day

Anglicare's Disaster Recovery Volunteer Program trains and accredits local volunteers so they are ready to support their community when it needs them most.

This one-day event covers all the training required before being activated as a Disaster Recovery volunteer.

In the Morning Session, we'll cover the essentials of volunteering in Evacuation and Recovery centres.

You'll learn about:

• What volunteers may be asked to do

• How evacuation and recovery centres operate and,

• How this fits into the NSW Emergency Management system

We'll share a catered lunch before the Afternoon Session where you'll learn how to support people safely and respectfully during and after disasters including:

• Recognising risks

• Responding to different needs

• Maintaining safe environments

• Speaking up when something is unsafe or inappropriate

We'll aim to wrap up the training component by 3pm at which point we'll provide support to anyone needing assistance completing their application forms or probity checks (NSW Working with Children Check and NSW Police Check).

Volunteers who have already attended the New Recruit training OR have completed the online modules Introduction to Disaster Recovery and Anglicare Disaster Recovery Core Training are welcome to attend the Afternoon Session where we'll cover the following online modules:

• Child Safety,

• Safeguarding Policy Training,

• Whistleblower Training,

• Bullying Harassment and Discrimination
