    MusicACT is delighted to welcome Artist Manager and TMN 30 under 30 listee Shannen Egan to talk about the state of play in the Australian Music Industry!

    Since relocating from Cloudy Yorkshire in the UK, 7 years ago. Shannen has been establishing a music career within the Australian music community.

    In 2017, Shannen began her music journey in Canberra where she quickly became embedded within the scene with community hub and publication, CBR DIG. CBR DIG spent 2 years covering, promoting and booking shows across Canberra, working alongside and collaborating with artists, venues, promoters, local businesses and council + more.

    With the experience that Shannen had gained with CBR DIG, she was employed to MusicACT as their first program manager and developed their first professional development program and joined the team representing the states contemporary music scene. Shannen has worked alongside, partnered and facilitated workshops / events with national and international industry / organisational experts such as; APRA AMCOS, AAM, Arts ACT, Sounds Australia, Headspace, Supportact, AIR, Music Australia, The Push, triple j, community radios and other state / national Australian peak bodies and stakeholders.

    In 2018, Turning Agency was launched. An artist management / music servicing agency representing local artists to the broader national music industry. Turning Agency has represented the likes of; Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Sputnik Sweetheart, The Dead Love, Columbus and Tamara & The Dreams + many more in a servicing capacity. The agency began to develop very quickly and earned a reputation as an established music agency within Australia.

    Shannen relocated to Melbourne where she began working for Ground Control Music who represented the likes off; Emma Louise, Robbie Miller and Darling James in a management capacity. Whilst taking on this role, Shannen was still working hard towards developing Turning Agency.

    In March 2020, in the outbreak of COVID-19. Shannen was one of three team members to found, create and program Isolaid, Australia’s first live stream music festival. With this project they worked with 70 artists a week and their teams. Isolaid also partnered with Supportact and raised a mass amount for their crisis relief fund.

    Shannen is also recently of the TMN’s 30 U30 winners of 2021 and an alumni member to; The Seed Fund, Co-Pilot (AAM), Gimme Shelter (AAM) and WIM Mentoring Program.
