Company of Voices is delighted to present Music Inspired by Poetry.
Join Company of Voices under the baton of well-known Musical Director, Leigh Vaughan.
Experience a fabulous afternoon celebrating musical repertoire favourites and some less known choral pieces, ensemble works, and piano music, inspired by some of the world's greatest poets and transformed into musical works of enchantment by leading composers from throughout the ages.
A veritable feast of Music from Purcell through to Australia's own Paul Jarman and a Mid Coast Premiere performance of 'The Lake Isle' by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo for guitar, piano, string quartet and choir, set to the inspiring words of William Butler Yeats.
A solo performance of four songs from A Poet's Love - Robert Schuman's musical settings of the poems by Heinrich Heine, and an impassioned piano solo, by Franz Liszt - Sonetto 104 del Petrarca, will be special treats.
Afternoon Tea (optional) will be provided at interval by Forster Tuncurry Quota at a cost of $5 to be paid on the day.
Profits from this event will go to Great Lakes Women’s Shelter.
