Supporting Your Child's Independence: Medical Webinar
Description
As your child gets older, they may want more say in what happens to their body. When your child has medical needs, supporting their growing independence and need for privacy can also mean balancing their safety and care needs.
Clinical Nurse Consultant Natalie Gentile from Children’s Nursing QLD joins us to share ways to build your child’s skills and confidence in their own care. She’ll also talk about the changes this can bring to your role as a parent.
In this webinar we’ll explore
Building your child’s involvement in their care one step at a time
Helping your child take on parts of their care, including looking after equipment and learning steps in care procedures
Knowing when to step back and when your child still needs your support
Supporting your child to share their needs, ask questions and start to take part in decisions with their healthcare team
