Mythic Inspiration - experimental sessions led by Katy Cawkwell as part of her work as Bard of Exeter 2026/27

How might a myth inspire your creativity? Everyone welcome, every artform, every level of experience including none! Each element is optional - feel free to leave the session at any point.

1-2pm Katy tells the Story followed by a couple prompts/games to explore the story together

Oct 15th: The Legend of the Phoenix

Nov & Dec sessions will be a different story - I will post the material here and at https://www.katycawkwell.co.uk/bard-of-exeter

2-3pm Silent Creative Time: stay in the room or find your own space in the library or nearby Rougemont Gardens. Space for you to respond to the story you've heard in whatever way you like. Bring materials for art, bring a notebook for writing, bring your heart, mind and body...

3-4pm Sharing Time: we come back together to share anything we like of what we've made or begun to make in a supportive, encouraging atmosphere. If you prefer just to listen and watch others, that's completely fine too.

Remember each element is optional: if you just want to come and listen to the story and then leave, you are very welcome to do this!

If participants want to, there may be the opportunity to share what you create at a "Bardic Blaze" celebration performance in January. See also my separate series of Spoken Word Performance Skills happening on the same days 5-6.30pm.

Katy Cawkwell is the current co-Bard of Exeter, host of Artemis Storytelling, a performance storyteller with 30 years experience and a warm, engaging workshop leader who loves to help others find their creative path. www.katycawkwell.co.uk

General admission is £10 which supports my work as a freelance storyteller (the Bardship is not a paid position!) There are a limited number of pay-what-you-choose for those who need them (including free places). If you register for a free place and are then unable to come, please cancel, so it can be released to someone who will use it. Thank you.

Tickets can be refunded up to 1 day beforehand. There will be a 10% admin charge for this.
