About MZAZA

MZAZA is one of the most unique bands coming out of Australia today. Drawing on French, Spanish-Sephardic and Balkan sounds, this six-piece reinvents folk traditions and crafts a world where music knows no borders.

Guided by enchanting French vocalist Pauline Maudy, a remarkable ensemble of musicians and songwriters hailing from diverse corners of the globe will ensnare your senses with their spellbinding performances. Brace yourself for an exquisite fusion of vocal harmonies, accordion, violin, shah kaman, percussion, double bass and guitar.

MZAZA’s third studio album ‘The Birth & Death of Stars’, recorded in Athens, is described as “Punchy, energetic and suffused with joy...  A supernova of an album.” Drawing inspiration from astronomy, philosophy and mythology and explores what links us to each other and the world around us.

Since its inception 20 years ago, MZAZA has received three Queensland Music Awards for Best Song (World) and lead singer Pauline Maudy is the 2023 Australian Folk Music Awards Artist of the Year.
