N'Dene Riley: Ancestors Country; Nature and Ocean Launch
Description
N'Dene was born on Palawa Land (Northern Tasmania) in Burnie on her dad’s country, Six Rivers. She was raised there for 4 years and then moved with her family to Victoria, which, as she says, "is on beautiful Bunurong Country in the Kulin Nations".
"My painting methods and techniques are contemporary and unique to myself. Artists have shared their journeys with me along the way as I have sat with them at Baluk Arts studio, in their homes and on Zoom. I believe I connect to my Aboriginal heritage and to my County with inspiration when I paint, create or design. My stories are told within my artworks in the form of memory of wisdoms taught, Aboriginal symbols, my languages and what I feel internally at those moments."
You are invited to share in N'Dene's stories and celebrate her return to the gallery at Murnong First Peoples' Gathering Place for the launch of her second exhibition here.
Light refreshment will be provided.
