NA’ANUIM: Sukkot Shakeupdownandallaround An Intergenerational Sukkot Experience for All Ages

Na’anuim: Literally, “movements”: The multidirectional shaking ritual - upward, downward, northward, southward, eastwards westward, inward- of the Four Kinds, or “Arba Minim”: Lulav (Palm), Etrog (Citron), Hadas (Myrtle), Aravah (Willow) on Sukkot. Each movement leads from the heart with a grand shake three times. Traditionally performed during the Hallel “Songs of Praise” section of the prayer service, as well as when making the blessing of Raising the Lulav.

Join your community at Chochmat for an intergenerational Sukkot experience that weaves ancient water prayers into the contemporary urban landscape for an unforgettable embodied ritual.

Preorder, purchase or forage for your own Lulav & Etrog set, and join us for an hour of song-filled shaking, singing and processing around our Temple for the day. 

The Four Kinds: Lulav (palm), Etrog (citron), Hadas (myrtle), Arava (willow) are an essential part of the ritual shakeup. You are welcome to use one of the below options to preorder sets that will be available onsite on the day, or forage/create your own.

Options for purchasing a Lulav and Etrog (Prices will be added at registration checkout):

• Preorder my locally grown Lulav and Etrog from Lindcove Ranch - $50, available until Sept 13th, pickup from Chochmat

• Preorder my Lulav and Etrog from local business Afikomen Judaica - $81, available until September 17, pickup from Chochmat

• Order a children’s felt Lulav and Etrog ($7), available onsite
