Description
Experience the artistry of Carnatic music’s ‘Generation Next’ as two outstanding young musicians from Bangalore, India, take the stage in Brisbane for an evening of classical vocal music.
Srimathi Medha Manjunath brings her vocal talents to a concert celebrating the richness, depth and expressive beauty of the Carnatic tradition. Accompanied on mridangam by Sri Vinod Shyam Anoor, these highly talented international artistes represent an exciting new generation carrying this music forward with passion and creativity.
Joining them are local artistes Sri Aswin Narayan on violin and Dr Arthavan Selvanathan on kanjira. Together, the four musicians will bring melody and rhythm into conversation, combining the artistry of visiting performers with the talent of Brisbane’s own musical community.
From the unfolding of a raga to the energy of rhythmic improvisation, the concert offers an opportunity to experience the spontaneity and interplay at the heart of a live Carnatic performance. It is also a celebration of the connections that music creates across countries, generations and communities.
Whether you are a longtime listener or discovering Carnatic music for the first time, join us in welcoming these gifted visiting artistes for an evening of musical exploration, shared tradition and fresh expression.
