Event description

Join artists S Adithya Narayanam (vocal/LecDem) and Avinash Jeyashankar (mridangam), in association with Revathi Performing Arts and New Zealand Carnatic Music Society, for an engaging and informative lecture demonstration.

Discover the fascinating world of the human voice, uncovering the science and artistry of vocal production. Delve into the science behind sound emission - respiration, phonation, resonance, and articulation. Explore the intricate workings of vocal registers. Learn how language shapes voice type and understand stylistic differences across cultures and genres. Discuss common myths and taboos surrounding vocal health and technique.

The lecture demonstration will also offer an in-depth exploration of voice culture in Indian classical music and how it compares to contemporary vocal techniques in today’s diverse musical landscape.

This interactive session will conclude with a Q&A and live vocal training for participants. Whether you’re an aspiring vocalist or simply curious about the possibilities your voice carries, this workshop is not to be missed.
