NAIDOC painting workshop with Chrissyray Weetra

Join artist Chrissyray Weetra in this special NAIDOC workshop designed to bring people together in the spirit of the NAIDOC 2025 celebrations.

Participants will learn about traditional painting techniques using Chrissyray’s vibrant colour palette while learning about the meaning of cultural symbols.  You can then apply your own designs on rocks and Eucalyptus leaves to take home. Every piece will be your own tribute to the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while celebrating connection in the community.  

This will be a fun and welcoming workshop suitable for ages 6 and over. Children aged between 6 and 16 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Christinaray Nadya Weetra is a young woman of the Warumungu and Arrente tribes of the Northern Territory. Her creative practice reflects her strength and dedication to preserving her heritage by maintaining a close connection with family in the Northern Territory. Sharing stories and passing on traditional methods of painting plays an important role in the sustainability of her culture, whilst blending her own contemporary vision.
