Nanny Assis is a lifetime awarded Brazilian Jazz artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist winning the Brazilian International Press Award for Best Male Vocalist 2018 and Best Show in New York. If you find yourself in the presence of a Nanny Assis performance expect to be charmed by smooth vocals and kicked into gear as he drives with a simmering latin rhythm simultaneously on drum kit and guitar.

Nanny visits Christchurch on a journey collaborating with Musician Maggie Gould who divides her time between New York performing and Mangawhai. She has performed internationally at renowned venues such as Blue Note, Jazz Forum, Zinc NYC and many festivals and tours. Upon meeting Nanny Assis he suggested her voice suited Brazilian jazz - and so her love of Bossa Nova was realised!

She recorded with guitarist Russell Malone her 2021 album "Todo Amor" to critical acclaim.

Maggie and Nanny will be joined by new found family, local legends and New Zealand's finest and funkiest musicians: Tom Rainey on piano, Jimmy Rainey on saxophone and Mike Story on bass.
