"Tip Tour" with Wombat

What happens to the contents of the 68,000 red bins that get collected from Shoalhaven residents every week?

This Local Government Week, Shoalhaven City Council invites you to take a behind-the-scenes tour of how a well-engineered landfill operates. See for yourself how your Council manages Shoalhaven's waste everyday and discover the innovative recycling facilities we operate for items beyond the yellow bin.

Shoalhaven's favourite Waste Warrior, Wombat will be your guide so buckle in for some learning and laughs.

This maybe our only weekend tour for 2024 where any Shoalhaven resident can hop on board! Only 22 seats available! ("Tip Tours" normally operate for pre-booked larger groups mid week.)

TIP TOUR DETAILS

• Bus departs from outside the Shoalhaven City Council Administration Building (opposite Entertainment Centre) PROMPTLY at 9am
• Bus will travel to West Nowra Recycling & Waste Depot, touring the facility including areas usually out of bounds for the public
• We return to the Council Administration building at approximately 11.30.
• Light refreshments and a recycling Q&A with Wombat will be held at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre. Finish 12.30.

PLEASE NOTE: 

1. This tour is only suitable for adults and children (10 years+).
2. Children (10 years+) must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Please do not bring younger children as they will not be permitted on the bus.
3. Tours operate in the rain but may be cancelled or delayed due to extreme weather conditions.
4. Part of the tour is conducted in areas with uneven ground and cramped interiors. Regrettably we are unable to accommodate people with walking limitations (walking sticks. walking frames, crutches etc)
5. A $5 booking fee is required.
