Event description

Discover the hidden world of native orchids with expert and author Joan Heavey in this hands-on identification workshop.

Australia is home to an incredible diversity of native orchids—delicate, surprising, and often overlooked. In this immersive and informative workshop, Joan will share her deep knowledge and passion for these unique plants, helping you learn how to identify local species, understand their growing conditions and ecological roles, and appreciate their subtle beauty.

Whether you're a keen gardener, budding botanist, or nature lover, this workshop will give you the tools to recognise and protect these stunning native plants in the wild and in your own backyard.

This event is part of a celebration of Joan's newly released book and includes a Book Launch and a Group Art Exhibition titled "In Bloom – Native Orchids Through Art and Lens" at The Little Red Cottage in Maleny.
