Thu, 1 Oct, 9:45am - 12:30pm ACST

Description

Join the Native Orchid Society of South Australia for a guided walk to discover the orchids of Morialta Conservation Park.

Learn the basics of orchid identification, how to search for orchids in the field, and how to recognise the habitats and conditions where they are most likely to be found. Experienced members of NOSSA will share their knowledge of South Australia’s native orchids, while helping you discover some of the species found throughout Morialta.

We will meet at the Moores track trailhead from 9.45am for a 10am start, and wander down the Moores road track.

Important information:

  • The trail is reasonably flat, but is not sealed. The track is unfortunately not suited for wheelchairs/walkers.

  • We encourage car pooling where possible.

  • There are no on site toilet facilities on this trail. Mukanthi Playspace and picnic area (10 mins drive) and Morialta Falls trailhead (15 mins drive) are the closest bathrooms.

  • Please ensure to BYO drinking water and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for bushwalking.

  • Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  • There is limited parking on-site, carpooling is recommended and appreciated where possible. A reminder will be sent out at least 1 day beforehand, which will include parking information.

The Native Orchid Society of South Australia promotes the conservation of Australian native orchids through cultivation and the preservation of naturally occurring orchids and natural habitat. All native orchids are protected in Australia. Collection of any plant material without a permit is illegal. To learn more about NOSSA, visit their website here.
