Native Plant Papermaking Kids Workshop
Event description
Do you know a child who loves craft and making a splash? Join us for a fun family papermaking session!
We’ll be getting our hands wet as we explore the creative world of handmade paper using native harakeke (NZ flax) pulp. You will start off learning the simple skills of how to form a sheet of paper from wet pulp, then develop these skills by making different shapes and sizes, such as sheets, cards, envelopes, and ornaments. Express your own flair by experimenting with bits and pieces to add different colours and textures to your creations.
This workshop is designed for kids and accompanying adults to enjoy together. Adults are expected to assist hands-on and join the fun. Ages 5 and up.
The paper produced during the workshop will be pressed and dried by the tutor and sent out to participants 2-3 weeks after the workshop.
This workshop is run with the support of Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa and Palmerston North City Council.
