Garden Workshop: Growing Healthy Soil & Native Plants Join us for a hands-on workshop featuring a tour of the church garden. Learn about soil types, building healthy soil, fertilizing, mulching, and weed management. You'll also see how to take and pot native plant cuttings, ensuring proper soil and watering techniques for growth. Please bring secateurs if you have them What You'll Take Home: A propagated native plant cutting A ready-to-plant native plant Open to all gardening levels. Come learn, create, and grow! Bron Wearne and Belinda McKercher: Bron and Belinda have lived on the peninsula for many years and are familiar with the soil types and climate. Both are very successful gardeners, Belinda having taught horticulture for many years at Tas TAFE, Clarence campus, and in retirement, Belinda now manages her own native and exotic species garden business. You may have seen her at the South Arm market. Bron has a wealth of experience in gardening and has been a main driver of St Barnabas's gardens. The church is indebted to her knowledge and skills of soil types, plant needs, and ways of building a quality soil so native plants can thrive. Belinda and Bron will lead participants through the workshop, learning about soil quality and propagating native plants. |
