Natural Eco-dyeing
Event description
Join us at Inner West Green Living Centre for this fun and engaging workshop playing with plants to colour cloth. This hands-on workshop will connect us to the natural world, making us more aware of everyday plant & food materials we can use to produce vibrant colours and reduce chemicals entering our water ways.
Participants will learn to dye cloth in ethical and sensitive ways through a number of eco-dyeing techniques including, immersive dyeing, resist dyeing and eco-printing.
You will use readily available plant materials from the garden and kitchen scraps with affordable and accessible techniques that can be replicated at home. Participants are invited to bring along their own items of clothing or pieces of cloth to use.
This will be presented by Nicole Bakarat an artist, educator and community arts facilitator for more than 20 years with a degree in textiles from the University of NSW. Nicole has delivered eco-dyeing workshops to a variety of audiences and will leave you inspired to do more of this time-honoured craft!
