Sun, 25 May, 9:30am - 11:30am AEST

Event description

Nature-discovery orienteering is a family orientated fun, safe and active way to explore nature in a group. Like orienteering, courses contain a series of checkpoints that teams navigate to using a map and compass but at each checkpoint there is a bush challenge that needs to be solved. There is something to be learnt about nature at each checkpoint.

Nature-discovery orienteering develops a range of skills at different levels including map reading, compass navigation, observation, safety and bush survival, ecological understanding and teamwork. These skills and the experience enhances self-confidence and self-esteem, spatial awareness, appreciation of nature and social cohesion....and of course a lot of fun!

Groups are limited, please when booking only book 1 person name as the representative for the group, you can bring up to 5 people in the group on the day

The first 30 minutes will involve a briefing of the course before beginning the Orienteering. Hot/cold drinks and biscuits will be available for participants at the completion of the course.

This event is free - the $10 per group booking is refunded for those who turn up on the day or cancel within 24 hours of the event. We are trialing this in the hope that it prevents people booking free tickets to the event and not turning up (while other people want to come but the event is booked out.)
