Nature-based Solutions Showcase, Ouse River
Description
The Flood Resilience and Recovery Project is entering its final phase, with Nature‑based Solutions (NbS) now installed across three regions.
The showcase will highlight completed works on the Mersey and Inglis Rivers, where large timber revetments, stock‑exclusion fencing and riparian revegetation have been implemented, alongside innovative willow‑control treatments trialed on the Ouse River.
Julian Martin (Geomorphe) will outline how NbS strengthen landscape resilience, helping farmers reduce flood impacts and support recovery after major events. Jesse Webster (NRM North) will present key learnings from the evaluation of the 2016 flood‑recovery program, and each regional NRM organisation will provide local project context. The Derwent Catchment Project will also attend the Ouse site. Participating landholders will share insights into their involvement, including the practical benefits and challenges experienced on‑ground.
