Guest presenter: Blue Mountains resident, Dirtmum (aka Beth Healy)

Join us for an evening of connection and nourishment, and where Dirtmum's story began ..

Picture an overgrown garden and a need to pull out the weeds, both physically and metaphorically, thus began the journey for Blue Mountains resident Beth Healy. With tasks too overwhelming, Beth signed up at the local school and began pulling those weeds, with the help of friends. During this time Beth recognised the need for a sustainability programme. Her dream of becoming a kitchen garden educator was sown, nurtured and is now a reality. Beth developed a programme that would create the space to learn, to share, to listen, to grow, to give hope to the future. A programme that would support their mental health and well-being through practical life skills. A programme that grows Community and soil.

Over the last seven years, Beth developed a unique permaculture programme, "Mind, Body and Soil," which incorporates nature play, gratitude, animal-assisted learning, sustainability, and wellbeing. This program inspires young minds and supports their mental health through practical life skills, providing hope for the future. Despite challenging times, Beth just kept growing and so did DirtMum, implementing projects Beth designed while studying her Diploma of Sustainable Living and Advanced Permaculture Student on-line with Matt Powers.

Beth’s journey has taken her beyond her backyard and the Blue Mountains. A road trip to follow her family tree and run workshops in outback towns, flood-affected villages, and remote schools, which brought glimmers of joy, shared chicken love and sowed seeds of hope in every town they visited.

Join us on 2 July 2024 to share DirtMum’s inspiring story, demonstrating how to nurture growth, joy, and empowerment through sustainable gardening practices. Let’s cultivate our spirits and share hope for a sustainable future.
