Event description

Connect with the seasonal plants around you through exploration of the art of weaving

Nature weaving is a meditative practice that invites women to reconnect with the earth in a deeply meaningful way. This practice is inspired by creating mandalas from natural treasures found in the forest, where you use materials gathered from the forest floor to weave beautiful patterns on branch looms.

Our time together begins with a grounding meditation, followed by a forest bathing walk filled with mindful prompts that help you connect to the natural world. You’ll collect leaves, twigs, feathers, grasses, and other natural objects to weave into your design. As you create, you’re not only shaping a unique piece of art, but also weaving your energy and intentions into the process.

This practice encourages women to slow down and attune themselves to the rhythms of nature, crafting something beautiful with their own hands. By infusing mantras or intentions into your weaving, you enhance its meaning and positive energy. The act of weaving in nature reminds us to appreciate the resources the earth provides, while also acknowledging the impermanence of life as our creations gradually change and return to the earth.

This three-hour workshop offers a time of relaxation, creativity, and deep connection to nature. No experience is needed – all materials are provided for an immersive and fulfilling experience.

At Friends of the Forest, we strive to help women reconnect with nature through activities like this forest weaving workshop. By immersing ourselves in nature, we find peace, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of our place in the world.

Join us for an afternoon of creative expression and mindful connection with nature. Let the forest guide you as you weave your own unique piece of art, made with materials found along our walk.

What You Can Expect

  • A thoughtful, meditative afternoon in nature with like-minded women. Our workshop will begin with a gentle forest bathing session to help you connect with the natural world and clear your mind. Then, we'll move on to the art of forest weaving, where you'll learn techniques for creating unique patterns and incorporating different materials into your creation.
  • You'll learn basic weaving techniques such as twining, coiling, and braiding to create a beautiful weaving.
  • All materials for the weaving will be provided, including a loom and various natural materials such as leaves, grasses, and feathers. However, we encourage you to bring your own found treasures from nature if you'd like to incorporate them into your piece.
  • No previous weaving or crafting experience is necessary - this workshop is designed for beginners and experienced weavers alike. We encourage you to let your creativity flow and embrace imperfection in your work. With each piece being made from natural materials found in the forest, no two weavings will be the same, making yours truly one-of-a-kind.
  • We will conclude our gathering in Circle by enjoying a seasonal herbal tea and engaging in a sharing circle. Additionally, we will allocate time for journaling or personal reflection.
  • Just bring your enthusiasm and a love for nature.
