Nauru: Sanitation Skills Workshop
Event description
In this interesting, hands-on training you will learn:
- how septic tanks, cesspits, and soak trenches work and why they are important for human health and the environment
- how to build and maintain a septic tank and cesspit that suits Nauru conditions
- how to rehabilitate a septic tank and cesspit
- the new Nauru Building Code requirements for septic tanks and cesspits (and how they can be met).
The training is suitable for builders, plumbers, contractors, hardware suppliers, and anyone building or rehabilitating septic tanks or cesspits. We also welcome women and students with an interest in plumbing and building, either at home or as a career.
Training will be provided by TVET's expert plumbing trainers and international sanitation experts.
Spaces are limited, please register ASAP.
When: Thursday 10th July 9am - 1pm and Friday 11th July 9am-1pm (two half-days)
Where: TVET, Yaren, Nauru
What to bring: Day 2 is outdoors and some physical work, bring closed-in shoes and a hat
Lunch will be provided, also a certificate of participation will be awarded to those attending both days.
The training will be in English (with Nauruan translation where needed).
