10 Day Navaratri Program at DLS Home Ashram
Description
Navaratri — Nine Nights of the Goddess
A 10-day retreat at DLS Home Ashram, Woodford
Sunday 11 October – Tuesday 20 October 2026
By Donation
Navaratri is one of the most significant spiritual windows of the year— nine nights and ten days given over to the worship of the Goddess, honoured through nine different forms of Durga, one for each night. At its heart, it's a celebration of victory: good over evil, light over darkness, and the quiet truth that devotion and righteousness outlast even the hardest of times.
Traditionally, it's also held as a time of real spiritual cleansing — through fasting, prayer and meditation, it becomes a chance to purify not just the body, but the mind and spirit as well, and to consciously turn back toward the feminine divine within all of us.
This October, we're bringing that same devotion to DLS Home Ashram, and we'd love to welcome you into it — whoever you are, and wherever you're coming from. Come for a single day, multiple days, or stay the entire 10 days with us.
Every day may slightly vary, but will be centred around: Agni Hotra at sunrise and sunset, yoga and meditation, shared meals, evening bhajan.
Day 1 — Shailaputri Theme: grounding and arrival. Positive: stability, quiet resolve. Addressing: rootlessness, feeling scattered.
Day 2 — Brahmacharini Theme: discipline and commitment to the path. Positive: patience, willpower. Addressing: impulsiveness, giving up when it gets hard.
Day 3 — Chandraghanta Theme: courage without losing composure. Positive: grace under pressure. Addressing: fear, inner agitation.
Day 4 — Kushmanda Theme: creative and vital energy. Positive: warmth, radiance. Addressing: lethargy, low energy.
Day 5 — Skandamata Theme: nurturing, protective love. Positive: care that guides rather than just comforts. Addressing: coldness, closing off from others.
Day 6 — Katyayani Theme: righteous, decisive strength. Positive: courage to act against wrongdoing. Addressing: passivity, staying silent when something needs confronting.
Day 7 — Kalaratri Theme: facing fear directly. Positive: fearlessness, clarity. Addressing: the deepest layer — fear, ego, ignorance.
Day 8 — Mahagauri Theme: purification after the ego work of Day 7. Positive: forgiveness, peace. Addressing: guilt, grudges, unresolved turmoil.
Day 9 — Siddhidatri (Maha Navami) Theme: culmination — all eight prior qualities come together. Positive: wisdom, fulfilment. Addressing: any remaining doubt or incompleteness.
Day 10 — Vijayadashami Theme: integration and celebration of the full nine-day journey — no new quality introduced; a day to consolidate, share reflections, and close the program as a group.
