Description

What does it take to move a business through the stages of growth?

Growing a business is hard.

At different stages, business owners face new decisions about where to invest, what risks to take, what needs to change and what is important to hold onto.

Following this year’s MBS Alumni Reunion, join fellow MBS alumni business owners for a practical conversation exploring the real growth journeys of two business owners who have built and grown their businesses from start-up to established.

MBS alumna Soklang Eng and the MBS Entrepreneurship Alumni Chapter will explore the growth journeys of two business owners:

Josh Murray
Founder & Head of Strategy, Josh’s Rainbow Eggs
Current MBS MBA candidate

Jonathan Edmonds
Founder & CEO, La Vita Care
MBS alumnus

We’ll not only explore where their businesses are today — we’ll go behind what it actually took to get there.

The conversation will explore:

  • The decisions that unlocked the next stage of growth

  • Where they invested

  • The risks and trade-offs that came with those decisions

  • What it actually took to move from one stage to the next

  • What worked, what didn’t, and what they would do differently with hindsight

  • What they deliberately held onto as the business grew

Expect a candid, practical conversation grounded in the experience of actually growing a business — including the challenges, decisions and lessons that aren’t always visible from the outside.

Following the conversation, continue the evening over drinks and canapés, with the opportunity to connect with fellow MBS alumni business owners.

Who is this for?

MBS alumni who own or operate an SME business and are thinking about their next stage of growth.

Josh Murray started Josh’s Rainbow Eggs at just nine years old, selling eggs from his family farm to neighbours before taking them to farmers’ markets. Today, the Victorian agribusiness supplies major retailers including Coles and Woolworths. Along the way, Josh has helped navigate the business from a childhood venture to a growing retail brand — evolving its operations, distribution and scale while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability, community and purpose. He is currently completing his MBA at Melbourne Business School while continuing to lead the business.
