Webinar: Navigating climate emotions together
Event description
Working in the field of climate change, many of us experience a range of emotions, from fear and grief to hope and determination. Some of us working in councils can feel isolated and alone in our feelings.
This workshop offers a safe space for council workers and councillors to learn about and explore the intersection of
mental health and climate change. Working with Psychology for a Safe Climate, we will delve into climate emotions, and build shared language and skills that support mutual understanding. We'll focus on the importance of connecting with others at this critical time for action, exploring the links between emotional expression, group connection and resilience. Participants will have the chance to share and reflect with each other, to help build greater connection and
solidarity in challenging feelings and experiences.
Through this interactive session you will:
Build shared language: Develop a shared understanding of climate emotions and their role in climate work.
Understand climate distress: Differentiate between the natural emotional responses to climate issues and distress that may affect well-being.
Sustain engagement: Learn practical approaches for working with your emotions to support long-
term, constructive engagement with the climate emergency.
