    Sam Thorp - Guest Speaker and Principal Consultant, Social Ventures Australia

    Sam is a Principal in the Consulting team and has over a decade of experience in the charity and not-for-profit sector. He has expertise in disability and broader social sector reform, with data analytics, financial modelling, revenue diversification, and outcomes measurement as particular areas of interest. He is the co-author of the Pay What It Takes report as well as the first Partners in Recovery report. His work has included supporting the DSS ‘A stronger, more diverse and independent community sector’ reform, leading the Disability Housing Outcomes Framework, assisting in the creation of the outcomes framework for the ILC funding scheme, and leading the internal SVA Innovation Hub team. Prior to SVA, Sam held diverse roles across Australia, Sweden, Singapore and the United Kingdom. He was previously at London South Bank University, where he built relationships between academics, businesses, and the third sector. Sam holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Science (Hons), and a diploma of Innovation Management from the University of NSW, and is a graduate of Singularity University.

    Angela Poon - Guest Speaker and Consulting Manager

    Angela Poon is a Manager at SVA Consulting with over 13 years of experience in the government and social purpose sector. She blends actuarial expertise with disability sector knowledge, reflecting a strong commitment to technically rigorous, purpose- driven work. Her recent projects include evaluating the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission’s Grants Program and leading a multidisciplinary team to improve the NDIA’s Specialist Disability Accommodation data. Supported by her previous secondment to the NDIA to report on the Scheme’s financial sustainability and participant outcomes, Angela brings data-driven insights to the NDIS landscape.
